Five Pillar of Islam
There
are five pillars of Islam i.e. Tawheed, Salat or Nimaz, Zakat, Siyam (Ramadan)
and Hajj. The Muslims are also required to perform other duties and obligations
told in Quran and Hadith.
The First pillar of Islam is Thawheed. Thawheed is a belief that
there is no god, but Allah and Hazrat Muhammad (S.A) is the last prophet of
Allah.
The second pillar of
Islam is pray, Muslim
offer pray five times in a day. These pray include Fajr, Zohar, Asr, Maghrib and
Isha. The Fajr Pray is offered early morning, the Zohar Pray is offered in
afternoon, Asr pray is offered in the evening, Maghrib Pray is offered at late
evening, while the Isha is offered in Night.
The third pillar of
Islam is Zakat, Muslims
pay Zakat @ 2.5% of their wealth (capital assets). The person who hold wealth
(capital assets) equal or more than 52.5 Tola of Silver or 7.5 Tola of Gold is
liable to pay the Zakat. Zakat is
calculated and paid every year.
The fourth Pillar of Islam is Siyam. Muslims observe one month
fasting in the month of Ramdan (the 9th month of Islamic Calendar).
The fasting start at early morning (just before the Azan of Fajr) and ends in
the evening (just before the pray of Maghrib).
The
fifth pillar of Islam is Hajj. The Hajj is performed once in a year. Hajj
is obligatory once in a life for those who have resources. The Hajj is performed
in the month of Dhul-Hijjah. The Hajj
day is 9th Dhul-Hijjah.
